« It’s a rare – and serious – disease » I am 36 years old, Cédric and I have just started the family I have dreamed of for so long. And here I am – leaving Dr Smirnov’s office with this terrible diagnosis, the contact details of associations for the visually impaired and a file to complete in order to have my disability recognized.
I feel like I’m sinking. The first days, the first weeks, the first months following the verdict drag me into a whirlwind of grief and anger. I collide with walls of « whys » and am struck head-on by anxieties about the course of a life that I anticipate being tarnished by all kinds of frustrations and deep sadness.
It’s tough.
But the love of Cédric, Romy and Thibault is so strong that it lifts me back up little by little allowing me to catch a glimpse of a future filled with sweetness. Without ignoring the challenges that I will have to face, they help me believe in happiness again.
And so, this dream of adventure resurfaces. The four of us going on a world tour to take a break from the frenetic pace of our lives. A long-standing wish as far as I am concerned.
I have always been driven by a kind of urgency to live, a need and a desire to make the most of the present moment- right here, right now.
Paradoxically, the optic neuropathy that day after day slyly and irreversibly attacks my eyesight makes me…see…life differently. I take a fresh look, full of wonder, at everything that life offers me.
Cédric joins me in a project that first seemed utterly crazy to him. His growing enthusiasm amazes and delights me. Let’s go!
Pausing to enjoy life, delighting in observing our children grow up as we explore places around the world – hoping to immerse ourselves in local culture while admiring the beauty of the landscapes.

In a nutshell, this is the plan for the world tour we are embarking on starting August 30, 2023, for approximately a year.
